ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT BEING A VOLUNTEER IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC?

We value your interest in the Czech Republic and the Czech voluntary sector. Therefore, we will do our best to help you to find a Czech NGO suitable for you. Before you fill out our questionnaire, here are some hints for you.

What you should do first of all…

    Ask yourself these questions:
  • how much time do I have for looking for a suitable NGO?
  • for how long do I plan to stay, which time of year?
  • am I looking for an NGO based in Prague or am I prepared to go to other parts of the Czech Republic (small towns, countryside)?
  • what type of activity am I interested in, and, am I prepared to do something else in case my preferred type of activity is not available?
  • how will I pay for my living while I am in the Czech Republic? Can I come even when the NGO will not be able to help me with paying the costs (e.g. accomodation)?

What can you do right now…

Together with sending us your questionnaire you can add information about yourself in a form of an advertisement to our website www.volunteer.cz (if you do so, your advertisement will be available to all visitors, that means not only to the NGOs registered through our database - that should improve your chance for success).

What can we do for you…

We can help you with contacting NGOs registered in our database. Also, we can give you information about volunteering in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with finding accomodation and/or paid job.
From our past experience we feel that many foreign volunteers would appreciate it if the NGO could provide them with accomodation, food etc. Sadly, that is exactly what most Czech NGOs are often not able to do due to the Czech law and economic situation that prevents them from giving such help, that might be common elsewhere.

One last tip…

-if you are an EU citizen and you are under 25 years of age, have you tried the European Voluntary Service? For more information see http://www.sosforevs.cz.
